Legal information
Privacy policy
Your data belongs to you. Here is how we protect it.
1. Data controller and hosting
The controller of the personal data collected on Rencontre Chrétienne (rencontrechretienne.com) is EUROPE TECHNOLOGIE, a sole proprietorship represented by Paulin KOTO, 133 avenue Gambetta, 75020 Paris, France — SIREN 532 321 973 — VAT not applicable, article 293 B of the French General Tax Code (CGI). Contact: contact@rencontrechretienne.com. The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, United States.
2. Data collected
We collect the data you provide (first name, email, date of birth, gender, country and city, denomination, situation, description, photos, and the selfie if you request the “verified” badge), your choices (sharing with the partner site, green “online” dot, receiving emails), your actions on the site (likes, views, answers to the question of the day, messages), the time of your last activity, the country observed at sign-in and, if you come from an advert, the originating campaign. Consents given at registration are time-stamped. If you arrive through a member's invitation link, we record who invited you.
3. Purposes
Your data is used to create and display your profile, to make introductions by country, to ensure safety and moderation, and to contact you about your account.
4. Legal basis and consent
Processing is based on the consent you give when signing up and on the performance of the service. Your denomination is sensitive data within the meaning of Article 9 of the GDPR: it is collected and displayed only because you provide it voluntarily, in the context of a dating service between Christians, and on the basis of your explicit consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time: sharing with the partner site can be unticked from your account; to close your account, request it from your account (“Delete my account”) or write to us, and it is erased within thirty days. This explicit consent to the processing of your denomination is given by accepting the terms of use when you sign up (section 2).
5. Sign-up and sign-in difficulties, and follow-up emails
If a sign-up or sign-in attempt fails, we keep the email address that was entered — and only that, with the nature of the failure (never the password or the photo) — so that we can help the person get onto the site; this note is erased after 30 days at the latest. At registration, the first name and date of birth are compared with existing accounts on the two sites that share the same base (Rencontre Chrétienne, Christian Love Story) to spot a likely duplicate: the publisher is notified, and no registration is refused for that reason. If you cannot sign in, you can request a single-use sign-in link, sent only to your account's address; for safety, the old password then stops working. We may also write to you to help you along: a reminder sent by our team if your profile or photo is still missing; a single reminder when a received message has been awaiting your reply for three days; and a notice when a member writes to you or sends you a like, if you are not signed in at that moment. You can decline these emails at any time by writing to contact@rencontrechretienne.com; only messages about safety and the state of your account will continue to reach you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest (helping you onto the site, ensuring safety) and the performance of the service you requested.
6. Retention period
Your data is kept for as long as your account is active, then deleted or anonymised within a reasonable time after it is closed, unless the law requires us to keep it — except for the addresses recorded when a sign-up or sign-in fails, which are erased after 30 days at the latest.
7. Data sharing
Your data is never sold. Only the profile information you choose to display is visible to other members. Providers act strictly within the scope of the service: Supabase (database, accounts and photos), Vercel (hosting), Cloudflare (network and protection), Stripe (card donations, entered with Stripe and never on this site), Hostinger (email delivery) and Anthropic (AI assistance: coach advice, translation of a message at your request, site assistant). In the latter case, only the necessary information is transmitted — first name, age, denomination, situation, city, description, or the text to translate — never your email address or your photo, and it is not used to train those models. Suggested profiles and the reason shown with them fall under this same assistance. A requested translation is kept for at most thirty days by our host, so it need not be requested again.
8. Partner site in the network
Rencontre Chrétienne and Christian Love Story (christianlovestory.com) are published by the same person and rely on a common member base. Your profile is visible on the partner site only if you have explicitly agreed: the checkbox is in your account and is never ticked in advance. Without that consent, your profile remains visible only on the site where you signed up. You can change this choice at any time from your account, without justification.
9. Your rights (GDPR)
You have the right to access, rectify, erase and port your data, and to object to its processing. To exercise these rights, write to contact@rencontrechretienne.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country.
10. Security
We implement technical and organisational measures to protect your data. As no system is infallible, we encourage you to protect your login details and to follow our safety charter. To fight fake profiles and scams, we record technical indicators about your connection: the country and city it comes from, and the time zone and language of your device. They are visible only to the moderation team, never to other members, and are deleted with your account.
11. Cookies
The site uses only the cookies needed for it to work (your session and your language). Audience measurement is done without cookies and without a personal identifier. Your browser keeps locally the page through which you arrived, so that we know which channels bring registrations.
12. Online status, notifications and messages
The green “online” dot is shown only between members who have both enabled it, and never with the time of your last activity. If you accept them in your browser, notifications may be sent to you through its notification service (Google, Apple or Mozilla depending on the device). A sent message can be corrected for fifteen minutes and deleted for twenty-four hours; the original version is kept, invisible to members, for moderation and the review of a report. Messages containing contact details are read by a person before delivery.
